Lion John Landrum has served proudly as a Lion since April 1984. He began his dedication to service with the Hillsboro Lions Club in District 2-X3. He served the Hillsboro Club as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Director, and was twice named their “Lion of the Year.” While in District 2-X3 he also served as a Zone Chair.
In 1994, Lion John transferred his membership to the Waxahachie Lions Club in District 2-X1. He served the Waxahachie Club as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Director, Cub Scout Pack 234 Liaison, and was twice named their “Lion of the Year.”
In 2002, Lion John became active at the District level in 2-X1 when he served as District World Services for the Blind (WSB) Chair. He has also served as MD-2 (Texas) State Chair for WSB, has been on the WSB board of directors since 2008, and is currently serving as the Operating Board Chair. He has served at the District level as Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet Treasurer, and Meetings & Convention Chair.
In 2005, Lion John was awarded a Life Membership in LCI by the Waxahachie Lions Club. He has received many Lions Clubs International awards, is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow & a Progressive Jack Weich Fellow.
In 2009, he was elected as 2nd Vice District Governor and served as District Governor in 2011-2012. He served as MD-2 Council Chair in 2018-2019. During 2019-2023 he served as the LCI Global Action Team (GAT) Leader for Area 1A, which then included Texas, Oklahoma & Louisiana.
Lion John married Lion Hilary in October 2003. He has a son (who is also a Past President of the Hillsboro Lions Club), a daughter, and 4 grandchildren. He is a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. He is a CPA and has been in public practice for over 41 years, the last 31 years in Waxahachie. Lion Hilary is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and former classroom teacher, and works primarily with students who have been identified with dyslexia.
Nelson joined the family 14 years ago, when Lion Hilary spotted him at an adoption event being held at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
